Annapolis Chapter Meeting: Writing Action and Combat Scenes

November 18, 2026
7:00 PM EST - 8:30 PM EST

Annapolis Chapter Meeting
Annapolis Friends Meeting, 351 Dubois Road
Annapolis, MD 21401

When creating a fight scene - or any action scene for that matter - authors must include many elements. They must make the action compelling, while avoiding inaccuracies that push a savvy reader out of the immersion. Join us for a presentation by author Edward Swing that will cover a myriad of issues. What should you include? What should you avoid? And why does Hollywood so often get it wrong? This will be an in-person only meeting.

Edward Swing is a writer of stories, software developer, avid gamer, and otaku (devoted fan of anime and manga). He has been a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, learned taekwondo, traveled both within the United States and internationally, and studied diverse topics including astronomy, mythology, and mathematics. The father of three teens, he lives with several pampered cats.
