Beyond All Hope and Fury: Writing for the alleged end of the world while everyone’s “at capacity” is a hybridized presentation, writing prompt, and workshop facilitated by Anishinaabe artist and archivist Shaawan Francis Keahna for students, friends and colleagues of all ages. Blending traditional oral history with music, live readings, and guided discussion, Beyond seeks to trouble writers’ processes just enough to push everyone towards their next revelation, or at least deepen their love for craft and community. 

Shaawan Francis Keahna is an alum of 4th World Media Lab, Native American Media Alliance’s TV Writers Program, the Native Filmmaker Initiative,  Tin House Writers Workshop, and RIVERS at the Speakeasy. He received a 2024 Ruby award in literary arts and a micro-grant from First Peoples Fund to complete his first big love letter to Baltimore, No One Gets Out of Here Alive. His first chapbook of comics and poetry, MAYDAY, came through Bottlecap Press in 2023. His work has been featured in Tension Literary, the Blood Pudding, the Hoxie Gorge Review, and many others.
