This presentation will be about how Dawne came to write a book without knowing how to write a book. She figured anyone who ever wrote a first book did so with no prior experience. So, Dawne got on with it because she fancied herself an author. And what do you know: she ended up writing a baker's dozen.

Dawne Allette was born in Grenada, West Indies. She has traveled internationally and has lived in Europe, the Middle East and the United States. She is an author, artist, comedienne and inspirational speaker. She has authored 8 children's books that are known for their lyricism and humor. Her biographies of Barack and Michelle Obama are used in schools in Europe and the US. Her debut novel, Mango Samba, set in Baltimore and Grenada, was published in 2020. Her textbook, Henrietta Lacks, The Mother of Modern Medicine will be published in the fall of 2025 by Cassava Press in London.
