Kari Martindale is a poet and spoken word artist who has read at Arts guilds across Maryland and performed at the White House.  She has been published in a number of literary journals and anthologies and nominated for a Pushcart Prize.  She sits on the Board of Maryland Writers’ Association and is co-editor of their literary journal, Pen-in-Hand.

Kari has served on literary judging panels for Maryland State Arts Council and Poetry Out Loud, and as a volunteer judge for annual slam competitions.  She is an instructor for Armed Services Arts Partnership.

Kari has been featured in ekphrastic poetry events at venues such as Baltimore Arts Guild, Delaplaine Arts Center, and Montpelier Arts Center; has been the feature poet at Arts organizations; and has read annually at Frederick’s Sky Stage Literature Night with the Frederick Chapter of Maryland Writers' Association.  Along with the poetry collective she manages, EC Poetry & Prose, she has also read on the main stage at Guinness Arts & Drafts and annually at the Write Women Book Fest.  Kari freelances for the Frederick News Post, has visited all 50 States and over 40 countries, and holds an M.A. in Linguistics from George Mason University.
