It's movie night at the Cumberland Chapter meeting. We will be watching an American Masters presentation on N. Scott Momaday - Words from a Bear.
N. Scott Momaday was a renowned writer who celebrated Native American Art and oral story telling tradition in his novels and essays. A member of the Kiowa tribe, he was also a poet, playwright, painter, photographer, storyteller, and a professor of English. He won a pulitzer prize for fiction for his novel, House Made of Dawn, and is widely credited as leading the way for the breakthrough of Native American literature by such authors as Louise Erdrich, Joy Harjo, and Leslie Marmon Silko.
