Karen's Tell-All

Congratulations on your publication! The trials of the writing life are far from over. Hiring a publicist, managing your own marketing, leaping through legal hoops, facing financial truths, asking around for an agent, finding that friends are giving away your signed copies... all this and more may be in store. Our own Karen Bennett will bid farewell to the chapter with a discussion and Q&A of her triumphs and tips for up-and-coming authors.

Karen S. Bennett, author of Beautiful Horseflesh, sat down to write fiction after a lifetime of observations from cello lessons, choral singing, art school, marriage, children, divorce, welfare, nurse's training, and travel. Her first novel, Natural Life, No Parole (previously retitled The Dictionary Defense), won first place in fiction from the Maryland Writer's Association in 2006, with other unpublished novels placing in national competitions. Many of her short stories have been published both online and in print media. She has previously lived in NYC and Maryland and currently resides in Georgia.
