Foghorn Greetings, Maryland Writer!
All this month it is April 2026! Isn’t that strange? Thirty days of spring, glorious spring in Maryland, the most beautiful state of all these magnificent United States of America! I’m both happy and proud to be here. This weekend, I rolled through the countryside on my pedal trike with my loyal beagle Benny-Dog at my side as we simply absorbed the sights and scents of all those flowering dogwoods and cherries. Unbelievable!
Let’s say you’re stuck. The muse won’t call. Your words won’t flow. Try this. Stand up. Turn around. Find a door (or perhaps a widow if you’re the dramatic kind), and then jump out into it! Close your eyes and inhale deeply through your nose while listening to the birds and bees flitting through April's breezy-cool. If that doesn’t light your fire, you might want to check your coal bin!
Because inspiration comes in all shapes, forms, and fashions. Personally, I like the darker side myself, but nothing sets that contrast like a brilliant sunny day in our amazing State of Maryland – if not in our artistic state of mind. Now, be warned and beware… boilerplate is inescapable:

First Fridays is always stimulating, a contest entry is certain to rouse your creative ambitions, and our critique groups provide practical feedback as well as a rousing good time for all who attend.

Support your peers! MWA celebrates local authors in many ways, so take time to enjoy Maryland's authors by supporting our Teen Writers Anthology.
If your profile requires a bit of grooming, tend your Association business via our website. If your membership expires this month, be certain to renew it to continue enjoying all these wonderful resources.
Finally, when you enjoy all that MWA has to offer and you feel someone needs a shout-out, you can always nominate your local Leadership Superstar.
