Greetings, Fantastical Maryland Writer!
From the office of MWA's Executive Committee President, I write to wish happy holidays for you and yours. Regardless of your affiliations – or lack thereof – December is a month of many endings, each of which begets the start of something new. Perhaps you are laboring to conclude your latest novel, story, or poem before year’s end, or maybe you’re simply trying to finish another historical year with your sanity and your savings intact. Regardless of cause, we can all look forward to January 2026 with winter and many profound questions in mind.
While I have no ability to forecast the details of our conjoined future in Maryland, lifelong experience tells me this coming year is going to make another unprecedented entry in our history books. This is not an entirely bad happenstance, since inspiration comes in many forms. Try to view this crazy world from that perspective.
My best advice - just try to go limp. For now, get a grip on yourselves, because boilerplate follows:

To inspire your creative ideations or help you wile away a lovely hour or two, MWA's constituents produce several useful and entertaining resources, to include our outstanding journal, "Pen in Hand", numerous anthologies, and a regular distribution of news and announcements.

If you're looking for something fun to do, MWA provides multiple outlets that are certain to entertain or return valuable feedback. First Fridays is always stimulating, a contest entry is certain to rouse your creative ambitions, and our critique groups provide practical feedback as well as a rousing good time for all who attend.
MWA First Friday's Open Mic Night
Support your peers! MWA celebrates local authors in many ways, so take time to enjoy Maryland's authors by supporting our Teen Writers Anthology.
If your profile requires a bit of grooming, tend your Association business via our website. If your membership expires this month, be certain to renew it to continue enjoying all these wonderful resources.
Finally, when you enjoy all that MWA has to offer and you feel someone needs a shout-out, you can always nominate your local Leadership Superstar.
