Greetings, World-Saving Maryland Writer!
From the office of MWA's Executive Committee President, I bid you Thanksgiving wishes for many joyous hours of family, friends, neighbors, networking, and – above all else – writing! Indeed, November and December are holiday months intended to be filled with all these good things and more. Yet I endure the loneliest hours of my existence before this keyboard, especially when I take a professional vacation. Since writing is a very personal, solo undertaking – not only while engaging in the act of writing itself, but also while observing all that transpires among the lives of “normal” people, which are the subject matter of my stories.
Perhaps you are also often on the “outside looking in”, sacrificing your own participation to observe, listen, watch, and take notes that will improve your poetry or prose. If so, then the holidays may seem like a bit of a chore sometimes – but I have good news today! You are one of us! Any time you feel the actual grind of all that loneliness pressing your soul flat, just reach out to your fellow travelers! Attend a meeting. Host an event. Give a talk. Read your poetry. We’re always waiting and listening!
In fact, I met many of you last month at our annual conference, “Brain to Bookshelf”, which is the crown jewel of MWA fellowship. Through the end of 2025 and into 2026, I hope to see you at this and any of the many events that MWA sponsors or patronizes throughout this fantastically beautiful State of Maryland.

First Fridays is always stimulating, a contest entry is certain to rouse your creative ambitions, and our critique groups provide practical feedback as well as a rousing good time for all who attend.

Support your peers! MWA celebrates local authors in many ways, so take time to enjoy Maryland's authors by supporting our Teen Writers Anthology.
If your profile requires a bit of grooming, tend your Association business via our website. If your membership expires this month, be certain to renew it to continue enjoying all these wonderful resources.
Finally, when you enjoy all that MWA has to offer and you feel someone needs a shout-out, you can always nominate your local Leadership Superstar.
