Greetings, Talented MWA Author!
From the office of MWA's Executive Committee President, welcome to July 2025! Sure, it’s getting muggier and hotter, but just last month you were complaining about the rain and the cold. So, step outside (with a hat), inhale deeply, pound your chest, and take joy in being alive in this Great State of Maryland!
Even better, you have a unique power and a vital energy that allows you to experience this world for others who would never know what you know or feel what you feel without the intervention of your words. Art makes a difference. You know this because its alternative is existential humdrum – everything that we do on a daily basis just to earn a few precious moments of freedom, which we most often expend in pursuit of… (drumroll please)… artistic pleasures!
Clearly, human society revolves around us and our kind. It’s not easy, though. Writing might be the loneliest expression of our human condition, but I think it is also the greatest. Keep up the good work! And maybe join me at our annual conference in October, where you will have the opportunity to pitch your wares to live publishers, editors, and agents. MWA First Friday's Open Mic Night
Support your peers! MWA celebrates local authors in many ways, so take time to enjoy Maryland's authors by supporting our Teen Writers Anthology.
If your profile requires a bit of grooming, tend your Association business via our website. If your membership expires this month, be certain to renew it to continue enjoying all these wonderful resources.
Finally, when you enjoy all that MWA has to offer and you feel someone needs a shout-out, you can always nominate your local Leadership Superstar.
