Greetings, Creative MWA Author!
From the office of MWA's Executive Committee President, hello and welcome to April 2025! Beginning with April Fools and ending in April showers, Maryland will be in an inspirational state of change this month. Since inspiration begets great art, as a matter of seasonal consequence I sincerely hope this message finds you deeply emersed in your next project, whether it be poetry, prose or something in-between and new.
Fortunately, this month’s calendar is packed full of good things for the writing mind. Get your monthly dues’ worth and stay up to date when you follow our wonderful association on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and all the rest. Perhaps take some time to review the links below for helpful activities that will support your artistic growth via collaboration with like-minded others.
Did you know that you can attend all of MWA’s meetings regardless of your chapter affiliation? You can! Take some time to explore alternatives and interface with fresh perspectives. (Better still, these events sometimes take place at local breweries!) Whether here, there or at our annual conference in October, I hope to meet you in person this year!

To inspire your creative ideations or help you wile away a lovely hour or two, MWA's constituents produce several useful and entertaining resources, to include our outstanding journal, "Pen in Hand", numerous anthologies, and a regular distribution of news and announcements.

If you're looking for something fun to do, MWA provides multiple outlets that are certain to entertain or return valuable feedback. First Fridays is always stimulating, a contest entry is certain to rouse your creative ambitions, and our critique groups provide practical feedback as well as a rousing good time for all who attend.
MWA First Friday's Open Mic Night
Support your peers! MWA celebrates local authors in many ways, so take time to enjoy Maryland's authors by supporting our Teen Writers Anthology.
If your profile requires a bit of grooming, tend your Association business via our website. If your membership expires this month, be certain to renew it to continue enjoying all these wonderful resources.
Finally, when you enjoy all that MWA has to offer and you feel someone needs a shout-out, you can always nominate your local Leadership Superstar.
