MWA Candidate Announcement for 2022 Board Election

With the end of the official nomination period, the MWA Board approved the slate of nominees at its May 16th, 2022 meeting. All elected or appointed terms commence on July 1st. We are pleased to announce our candidates for board/leadership positions at our upcoming Board Election as follows:

  • President** - Amy Kaplan
  • Vice-President - Suzanne Forest
  • Secretary - Stephanie White
  • Treasurer** - Stephen and Melinda Huff
  • Tech Chair - Hailey Putnam
  • Webmaster - David Joyner
  • Pen-In-Hand Editor++ - Roderick Deacey
  • PIH Co-editor++ - Kari Martindale
  • Teen Club Coordinator++ - Lisa Neuder
  • Members-at-Large (2) - Deliah Lawrence and Regina Sokas


**Note: The officers filling these positions are seeking reelection.

++Note: The candidates are already appointed to the position.

The MWA Board Election will be conducted virtually at the Annual Membership Meeting.

Candidates are still immediately needed to fill the MWA Virtual Meeting Coordinator, Graphics Coordinator, and Teen Writers Club mentors in Odenton, Salisbury and Germantown. Training is available for all positions. Note: Nominations from the floor will be permitted only for open positions during the Board Election. Nominees must be present.

Only through our volunteer efforts, each taking a turn, will we be able to continue building a strong, active, and successful MWA.

Those MWA members who cannot attend the Annual Membership Meeting will have the opportunity to vote in the elections through Proxy Voting. You may cast your vote at https://marylandwriters.org/form.php?form_id=69&c=1 . You will need to login to the Member area to access the form and cast your vote. You may only vote once. The Deadline for Proxy Voting is 10:30 AM on June 15, 2022.
